The Three Weeks Previous- Florence

Il Duomo. I lamentably didn't like the Florence Cathedral as much as I had hoped, but it still seemed amazing to see this structure that I had studied in both History of Architecture as well as Art History. The Baptistry doors however, were more than I had ever expected. They are truly amazing and beautiful!
The Rape of the Sabine Women- this twisting, energetic sculpture evokes a mixture of feelings for me. It is both terrible for the subject it portrays and marvelous for the beauty with which the writhing bodies inter-twine and push upward. It is one of my all-time favorite sculptures.

The Three Weeks Previous- Venice

Public Transportation in Venice- Boats! Here approaching St. Marks Square from the Grand Canal. The Camanile and domes of St. Marks can be seen in the background.
Doge's Palace. Here are the statues of Moses and Paul Newman (according to Rick Steves) which Jes and Mindy are imitating. Posted by Picasa
